Editor

The person responsible for the content of Who Called Canada is Andrew Pickett, director of OmegaIT Limited (Isle of Man), which operates the site. He is also the person responsible for the protection of personal information. The postal address and contact details are in the legal notice.

What the editor is responsible for

• the guides: choice of topics, sign-off before publication and updates;
• the explanatory text on the home page and the overview pages;
• the rules for moderating reports, and the decision on reports held for review;
• corrections, disputes and removal requests.

How the content is made

Guides rest on primary sources: CRTC decisions, Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre advisories, the National Do Not Call List and federal and provincial legislation. Every source used is linked at the foot of the guide. For research, data analysis, drafting and translation we use software, including AI tools. Before a guide is published, its facts, figures and links are checked against the linked sources and the editor approves it. Each guide names its editor and the date it was last reviewed; the date changes only when the text does.

The French pages

The French edition of a guide or page is prepared separately from the English one, with the same AI-assisted process and the same sources. No native French-speaking editor reviews the French pages. They may read differently from what a native writer would produce; if you notice an error or an awkward phrase, tell us and we will correct it.

Data pages and community content

Data pages (area codes, provinces, rate centres, carriers, numbers) are generated automatically from CNAC’s public files and are not written one by one. The methodology describes how the data is imported and checked; only CNAC can correct an error in the register itself. Votes and reports come from the people who received the call; they are moderated under the editorial guidelines and presented as opinions.

Independence

We are not paid for content, rankings or opinions, and the site has no affiliate links. Google AdSense shows advertising on the guides only; we do not choose the ads and advertisers have no influence over the content. Which pages can and cannot carry advertising is listed in the privacy policy.
